Ash retrieval from 01:36 UTC AVHRR image of Shiveluch ash cloud.

I have analyzed the AVHRR data. Taken background surface temperature of 4C and cloud top altitude of approx 6 km and local radiosonde of -30C. Note that one cloud top temperature and one surface temperature means that the retrievals are only a first approximation and require point by point cloud top and surface temperatures.

BTD cut off of 0K. Total mass at 01:36 UTC is 10.5 KT.

Attached image below ash cloud in Google earth.
