Ash cloud from Cleveland Volcano, August 20, 2012

GOES shows possible start time around 03:45 UTC



Weak ash signal from detached cloud by 04:02 UTC. Strongest BTD is -1.8C. Was 58km from volcano, bearing 112 and estimated to be at least 5 km ASL.


Weaker signal further to the south-east at 06:45 UTC. Now 164 km distant.


Puff shows using two images could have been up to 6 km ASL
