Continued activity from Tolbachik in webcam and satellite data, December 8 2012





Webcam imagery showing incandescence and steaming from active lava flow. Below is the satellite data as mid and thermal infrared. 

Mid infrared centered in on the volcano, 40 by 40 region.

TIR background =   -22.26 C
MIR elevated above background =  87.17 C
Time averaged effusion rate =   30.8 m3/s (13 obs)

Note the two regions of elevated temperatures seen in the Mid and thermal infrared data.

Sector data, elevated temperatures from Tolbachik but also Shiveluch and Kizimen volcanoes


Only Tolbachik shows up as elevated in the Thermal infrared across the sector.
